A local authority’s sewage treatment works is its largest single consumer of energy – and within it, the biological treatment stage, as this requires aeration using large blowers for several hours every day, whilst other pumps and machinery are also in operation to ensure the necessary treatment of the wastewater.

- Energy Optimization
Aqualogic® provides specialized functions that focus specifically on the energy-efficient control of all connected units. Processes are controlled based on load and are therefore always managed appropriately in terms of the required energy input. However, since Aqualogic® does not consider energy savings in isolation but always within the context of the process environment, it ensures that no excessive energy savings occur, which would lead to negative process characteristics. Thus, Aqualogic® manages energy usage in accordance with the adage “as much as necessary—as little as possible.”
- Process Optimization
Aqualogic® automates all processes related to the biological treatment stage of the wastewater treatment plant. This ensures that these processes are optimally coordinated at all times and that stable plant operation is maintained, guaranteeing high treatment efficiency and economical use of energy and operating resources. By using Aqualogic®, you—or your wastewater treatment plant—will never again be caught off guard by unforeseen events, as Aqualogic® reacts immediately to changes in the influent or the process environment and makes all necessary adjustments to maintain the processes at a stable, high, and energy-efficient treatment level.

- Aqualogic® – How it works
Aqualogic® uses fuzzy logic to model the engineering processes of the biological treatment stage at a wastewater treatment plant. In this way, extensive, established expert knowledge is applied in the form of rules for process control. Fuzzy logic is particularly well-suited for highly complex, nonlinear, multi-parameter systems such as biological processes and is classified in the “Energy in NRW” handbook as one of the most effective control approaches for wastewater treatment.

Aqualogic® is the attentive colleague who, working around the clock, always focuses his full attention on all processes at the heart of the wastewater treatment plant. He ensures that all processes—aeration, recirculation, sludge cycles, coagulant dosing, and much more—are optimally coordinated, thereby allowing the operating staff to devote their time to other important productive tasks.
Aqualogic® can also be adapted to changing requirements at any time; that is, new measurement probes or units to be controlled can be integrated easily and with minimal effort, allowing, for example, additional subprocesses to be automated. - For operators
As an operator, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth, round-the-clock operation of the wastewater treatment plant and are required to conserve resources as much as possible. Aqualogic® dynamically controls the aeration process at the optimal operating point at all times, regardless of the load conditions, thereby ensuring maximum treatment performance with efficient energy use. If needed, you can benefit from the expertise we have gained through our support of a wide variety of wastewater treatment plants (varying in size, process steps, etc.).

Take an aeration system as an example: Highly efficient aerators, an optimal air distribution system, and the latest-generation blowers cannot deliver their full benefits if the control technology is not at an equally high level. - For planners / engineers
The automation of the biological treatment stage requires not only in-depth knowledge of automation but also a high degree of process engineering expertise in wastewater treatment and all associated process steps. Furthermore, the automation of biological processes requires highly complex algorithms, which can only be approximated using ‘conventional’ mathematics and programming.
With Aqualogic®, you have access to software that has been installed in several hundred wastewater treatment plants; it utilises fuzzy logic in the implementation of control algorithms and is therefore capable of handling even highly complex non-linear multi-parameter algorithms. This means that when using Aqualogic, you can always be confident that the necessary process knowledge is taken into account and applied during the implementation of the automation, thereby ensuring stable plant operation in every situation.
Furthermore, Aqualogic can be flexibly adapted to changing requirements at any time; this means that additional measurement probes or units to be controlled can be connected easily and with minimal effort, or that additional automation tasks or new modules can be incorporated. We would be happy to assist with the design of the measurement and control concept for your current requirements and to highlight optional extensions for future developments.
The use of Aqualogic® also significantly enhances planning reliability across all VOB service phases. We would be happy to explain, step by step through the VOB service phases, how you and the end customer can benefit from Aqualogic®. One example is the rapid (because it has been tried and tested hundreds of times) implementation and commissioning, after which the operator can immediately manage the system independently and need not worry about any troublesome software errors later on. - For investors / development aid workers
In international projects, considerable efforts are being made to improve local infrastructure in the interests of public services, for example by supporting the construction of new sewage treatment works. To achieve low operating costs and in the interests of resource efficiency, we recommend the use of Aqualogic®.
For various reasons, the treatment performance of sewage treatment works often declines over time. If you take out a supplementary Aqualogic® service contract, we will continue to support the sewage treatment works even after commissioning (e.g. via remote access), for example by adjusting the control parameters and/or refining the assessment of the machinery and measurement technology. This also ensures the long-term sustainability of your investment.
