BINDER acquires Aqualogic®

BINDER acquires Aqualogic®

Continuity for customers and employees, expansion of the portfolio and focus on innovation

Ulm/Rimpar, September 16, 2025
The BINDER Group is acquiring Aqualogic® from Passavant-Geiger GmbH as part of an asset deal. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Aqualogic® will continue as an independent brand within the newly founded Aqualogic GmbH – all employees will remain on board.

With this step, the BINDER Group is specifically expanding its portfolio and technology platform to include Aqualogic®‘s fuzzy logic expertise – in particular for load-depending aeration control in wastewater treatment plants. The result: higher efficiency, higher process reliability, and higher sustainability.

Rising energy costs, stricter effluent requirements, and more frequent extreme rainfall and droughts are facing operators with increasing challenges. BINDER and Aqualogic® are meeting these requirements with combined strengths: control software, precise air flow meters and efficient control valves.

Aqualogic® will remain an independent software solution and, together with BINDER, will become a complete solution for the control of biological processes in sewage treatment plants. The integration opens up new business areas and process functions that enable energy-efficient operation with stable cleaning performance and strengthen the market position in the long term.

Operators of wastewater treatment plants benefit directly from the combination of Aqualogic® software and BINDER technology:

  • Intelligent aeration control for highest energy efficiency
  • Precise air flow metering and low-pressure-loss control valves
  • Precise chemical dosing to ensure reliable compliance with local effluent standards
  • Maximum operational reliability for cleaning performance and equipment safety

These solutions cover the control of air supply, blowers and other equipment as well as the dosing of precipitants and other chemicals. Clear upgrade paths are available for existing plants – an easy way to move into the next generation of control of the biological process.

All current service contracts will be transferred. All contact persons will remain the same. The business will expand via the BINDER Group‘s international sales and service network. In the future, both large and small systems will benefit from combined process knowledge based on more than 1,000 optimization projects worldwide.

BINDER and Aqualogic® are consistently developing the existing fuzzy logic solutions further. The next milestone is the integration of artificial intelligence. AI methods enable even more precise predictions and adaptive control in real time. This allows aeration control, chemical dosing, and energy consumption to be dynamically adjusted to fluctuating loads, weather events, or new legal requirements.

The AI-supported platform thus sets the roadmap for the future—with the aim of further reducing operating costs, cutting CO₂ emissions, and increasing the cleaning performance of wastewater treatment plants—while maintaining a consistently high level of operational reliability.

Heiko Hermann, a long-standing and experienced manager at the BINDER Group, is taking over as Managing Director of the newly founded Aqualogic GmbH. He already holds a position of responsibility within the group as an authorized signatory.

Authorized signatory Michael Wimmer will continue to manage the Rimpar site, which will remain the Technology Center of Aqualogic®.

All Aqualogic® employees will be retained. Their experience, expertise, and innovative strength will be directly incorporated into the BINDER Group in the future—and we are proud to welcome this expertise to our team.
