Air and exhaust air analysis

The stationary gas analyzers and systems of the COMBIMASS® series are used for the analysis of exhaust air in e.g. sewage treatment plants or for monitoring the air in double-walled membrane gas storage tanks.

In both of these applications the concentrations of methane and hydrogen sulphide to be measured can be extremely low. Consequently, no standard NDIR measuring cell can be used such as in the biogas sector.

Additionally, when monitoring the air of the membrane roofs, low concentrations of methane is already present in the atmosphere in the intake area, which can change depending on the weather conditions and passing agricultural vehicles. Therefore only the analysis of the supporting air alone would lead to an incorrect measured value. The difference between the air drawn in and the air flowing out must be measured and evaluated in order to determine whether the permeability of the membrane has deteriorated or even ruptured over the course of operation.

Long-term monitoring can extend the service life of the membrane roofs (TRAS 120) and detect losses of methane at an early stage in the case of damage. Therefore, long-term monitoring not only improves operational safety but also significantly reduces the operating costs of the entire plant.
